Can I pick up the car in one city and return it in a different city?

Yes, a charge would apply for returning to another location.

Can I pay for the rental car and have it picked up by someone else?

The person prepaying for the service must appear at the counter to collect the car with rental requirements in his/her name and designate an additional driver if needed.

Can I drive across to the United States?

Yes, renting from Tijuana, Mexicali, Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Hermosillo, Monterrey and Saltillo. The vehicle must be returned to Mexican territory. You must purchase the Extraterritorial Insurance which has an approximate cost of $10 USD per day.

Can I rent with my expired license?

No. The driver's license must be current and at least one year old at the time of rental, otherwise the rental will not proceed.

Can I rent without a credit card?

No. The credit card is an indispensable and irreplaceable requirement to make the rental.

Do I need to make a reservation?

It is highly recommended to book in advance to have the vehicle ready on the date and time you require.

Are there any extra charges, in addition to those shown online?

When picking up the car you will be offered additional products and services, in case of acquiring any of them the price will be added to the reserved amount (Example: child seats, additional driver, Wifi Spot, among others). The total amount reserved is the total amount to be paid.

Can you guarantee make, model or color?

Avis always guarantees a specific vehicle category. There are several makes, models and colors within the selected category, and the vehicle delivered will be subject to availability on the date requested.

How do I get my Invoice?

Can I rent a car if I am under 25?

Yes, the minimum age to rent a car at Avis Mexico is 21 years old. A daily Underage Surcharge applies for customers between 21 and 24 years of age. This fee is subject to the airport fee (in offices within an airport) as well as the corresponding VAT and exempts employees between 21 and 24 years of age with whom we have an agreement, which have a corporate rate.

Can I use a debit card?

To rent a car it is essential to have a credit card to leave a security deposit for the vehicle (see table of guarantees), however, at the end of the rental, you can use a debit card to pay for the rental.

What should I do in case of an accident or if I lose my car keys?

You must report it by calling 800 2-888-911.

Can I smoke inside the car?

Smoking is not allowed inside the Avis car. All our cars are smoke-free.

Is it mandatory to purchase protection and insurance upon my arrival at the counter?

Our protections on most of our cars are optional, however, purchasing a car protection will give you peace of mind because that you will be released from any financial responsibility in case of collision, theft or total loss of the car, it will also reduce the bank pre-authorization that you will be required to pay.
If you do not purchase a vehicle protection, whether partial or non deductible, you will be 100% financially responsible for any damage, theft, loss or situation you are involved in while driving the Avis car.
